original art

Original art to enhance your space.

My aim is to create something gorgeous that you’ll fall in love with and want in your home. I hope you enjoy my collection.

how it works - originals

You can either buy from my gallery wall of existing paintings or commission your own piece of original art.

Simply use the get in touch button and we’ll chat about what medium you want, what colours you’d like it to feature and what size you’d like.

I’ll then get a brand new canvas and paint your own unique work of art for your home or office.

HOW IT WORKS - pet portraits

I can create your pet’s portrait in coloured pencils from your own photographs.

If you’re smitten with your kitten, potty about your pooch or head over heals in love with your horse then just send me a selection of photos and I’ll create a 100% hand drawn portrait for you.

Digital portraits also available.

HOW IT WORKS - watercolours

If you would like a hand drawn and watercoloured picture of your home, gite or even château (yes, I’ve done a couple of those) then simply send me a selection of photos and we can discuss what you’d like me to include and what you’d like me to leave out.

For example I can add summer flowers even if you only have winter photos for me to work from and I can remove unwanted items too.

into the blue

Stillness isn’t empty – it’s where we find ourselves again.

Acrylic on Large Canvas
75cm x 115cm

Looking back at Into the Blue, I’m reminded that this painting has always carried a quiet pull for me. Soft layers of muted blues, chalky hues, and drifting brushstrokes… all inviting a pause, a breath, a moment of stillness.
It’s the feeling of standing at the water’s edge, where the horizon stretches on and the world gently softens around you. A place where calm isn’t something you chase – it’s something you let in.
I painted this piece hoping it might offer that same stillness to anyone who sits with it. A reminder to slow down, let go, and find peace in the present moment – even if just for a heartbeat.

before the storm rolls onto the beach original canvas

before the storm

View of the beach before the storm rolls in.

Acrylic on canvas
60cm x 80cm

Original canvas with loose brush strokes, splashes of white sea spray and moody indigo and greys to give it depth and texture.

I love standing on the shoreline before a storm comes rolling in, do you?

The atmosphere is charged with a unique blend of anticipation and tension. As you stand on the shore, you can feel the energy in the air shifting.

The waves, once rhythmic and predictable, adopt a restless quality. The sea now carries an underlying sense of urgency with a quiet warning of the tempest brewing in its depths. The sand beneath your feet feels cooler, and the scent of salt in the air becomes more pronounced. This is the moment Before the Storm.

along the coastal path

View of Omaha Beach from the coastal path amongst the sand dunes.

Acrylic on canvas
75cm x 115cm

Original canvas with loose brush strokes, splashes of white sea spray and hints of bronze to give it depth and texture.

I love the view of Omaha Beach glimpsed from between the sand dunes on the coastal path with the soft beach grass swaying in the offshore breeze.

The painting is really only a suggestion of that very special beach rather than a perfect replication of it – I imagined the sky and sea from its furthest point out first, with it’s deep moody blues and the swirling clouds above. Then I gradually brought the detail closer and closer until I reached the shore where there were footprints in the sand and the dune grass swayed in the breeze and drew me into the view. I’ve capped some of the grasses with hints of bronze to catch the light.

adrift

There are times when we all feel a little unmoored – caught somewhere between where we’ve been and where we’re meant to go. Not lost exactly… just drifting.

Acrylic on canvas
60cm x 80cm

Adrift came from one of those spaces. A pause. A stillness. A moment where the horizon feels distant and the direction unclear. But there’s something important in that too – in allowing the tide to carry you, in trusting that movement doesn’t always have to be forced.
Soft layers of sea and sky dissolve into one another, where calm meets uncertainty and the horizon gently blurs.. the water feels quiet, but not empty. The sky heavy, yet shifting. As though something is changing… even if you can’t quite name it yet.
Perhaps being adrift isn’t about losing your way – it’s more about letting go long enough to find a new way… put your trust in the tide and believe that even in moments of pause, we are still moving forward.
What does being adrift mean to you?

a glimpse of the sea

A glimpse of the sea peeping between the sea grasses.

Acrylic on canvas
60cm x 80cm

Imagine the scene….

Escaping to the beach is like stepping into a sanctuary for the soul, a haven where well-being takes centre stage.

The rhythmic symphony of soft waves instantly becomes a soothing soundtrack, washing away the stresses of everyday life. The salty breeze carries a refreshing scent, and the soft touch of the beach grass as you walk amongst it grounds you in the present. As you gaze into the vast expanse of the horizon, the little glimpse of the sea seems to draw you into the scene, instilling a sense of tranquility and freedom. The gentle caress of the sea breeze and the warmth of the sun on your skin create a perfect harmony, inviting you to release tension and just be.

where the sea meets the sand

There’s a quiet conversation that happens where the sea meets the shore.

Acrylic and Texture Medium on Canvas
29cm x 29cm x 3cm each

The gentle sweep of water, the softness of sand, the patterns left behind as one gives way to the other. These three textured canvases were inspired by those fleeting moments – simple, peaceful and endlessly calming.

Built up with layers of rich texture and painted in soft coastal hues of ocean blue, sea foam white and warm sand, each piece explores movement, light and the beauty found in nature’s quieter details.

Each canvas has a central textured area that stands around of the canvas and has pure, unpainted canvas surrounding it.

As I worked on these pieces, I found myself returning to memories of salty air, endless horizons and the simple peace that comes from being near the ocean. Those moments where nothing is expected of you except to pause, breathe and simply be, standing at the water’s edge, watching the tide come and go, allowing the noise of everyday life to drift away with it.

They were created to bring the feeling of calm, lightness and connection to the coast into your home, I hope they’re an invitation to pause, breathe deeply and linger in the moment a little longer.

purple burst flowers

Purple Burst Flowers

Acrylic on canvas
40cm x 120cm

Original canvas with deep textured purple brush strokes and splashes of vivid pink.

The arty bit – the colour purple has a mysterious and sophisticated vibe, sometimes with delicate and bohemian undertones and a very rich allure. Oh la de dah!

The practical bit – purple is a mix of red’s energy and blue’s calm so this canvas will suit you and your home, whatever your mood is. The colour calms the mind so is great for a feeling of wellbeing. It can also bring joy and trigger creativity so it’s a double whammy of wonderfulness.

The detail bit – this painting is more than just purple, it also features undertones of deep blue, fresh cyan, lighter strokes of lilac and muted greens with splashes of hot pink.
Of course, purple leads the way with hints of mauve, plum and lavender but if you look really closely, there, almost hidden behind the top layers you’ll see tiny pops of orange, lime and red.

This tall canvas would look equally gorgeous in a living room or bedroom as it would in a kitchen or bathroom… which room in your house would you put it in?

pussy willows

Pussy Willows

Acrylic on canvas
40cm x 120cm

Original canvas with soft tones and textured brush strokes would look equally good in a lounge, hallway or bedroom.

Pussy willow is a name given to the smaller species of the genus Salix when their furry catkins appear in early spring. How cute is that?!

The delightful legend of Pussy Willow –
According to an old Polish legend, many springtimes ago a mother cat was crying at the bank of the river where it looked as if her kittens were drowning. The willows at the river’s edge wanted to help her so they swept their long beautiful branches into the water to rescue the little kittens who had fallen into the river while chasing butterflies. The kittens gripped on tightly to the willow branches and were safely brought to the riverbank. Every springtime since then, says the legend, the willow branches sprout tiny fur-like buds at their tips where the tiny kittens once clung. Hence catkins.

jayne's beach

This acrylic on canvas was a commission piece for Jayne.

The beach is Jayne’s happy place and she wanted a fresh beach scene to fit in her contemporary home.

I painted it with loose brush strokes to embrace the wild nature of the coast and added highlights of real silver leaf on the crests of the waves to catch the light that floods into her beautiful lounge.

When I delivered it she also asked me to style her lounge to bring the piece to life so I found all her coastal vases and candles that had the colours of the beach and the painting within them to give her place a contemporary beach vibe.

judy's trees

Ochre Trees.

This acrylic on canvas was a commission piece for Judy.

Judy commissioned me to paint some abstract trees for her new home. We discussed what she wanted and decided that it wouldn’t be a real location, it would be more a place in our minds that included the ochre and russet shades she asked for. I painted it with loose brush strokes to capture the wild nature of rolling fields and trees and added wisps of bronze to catch the light differently at different times of the day.

And while I used the ochre’s she’d asked for I also used wild strokes of cyan, purple and orange to give it an uplifting and happy vibe.

Here’s a bit of ocre info for you –
Ochre is a family of earth pigments, which includes yellow ochre, red ochre, purple ochre, sienna, and umber. It’s a natural clay pigment, a mixture of ferric oxide and varying amounts of clay and sand. It ranges in colour from yellow to deep orange or brown.

jeanette's coastal rushes

Coastal Rushes.

This acrylic on canvas was a commission piece for Jeanette.

Just behind Omaha Beach amongst the sea grass rushes and reeds is a small, barely visible pond that reflects the sky and rushes in it’s shallow blue water. I’ve always loved how the rushes sway in the breeze and have taken many photos of it over the changing seasons.
I tried to capture the hues of the rushes on a late summers day and used a palette knife to add depth and texture to some of the rushes. I even collected a few strands of the fluffy topped rushes and gave them to Jeanette together with the original for her to place in a vase next to the painting.
